09/02 Fitness for the Week(end)

Guten morning friends!

It's a beautiful sunny day here in Ottawa, helped me wake up a bit easier this morning :)

I still need to figure out the bus schedules, though. And get a bus pass for that matter. When did the bus start costing so much money?? Clearly I have been living outside of the city for much too long...

I was in a bit of a rush this morning, so I grabbed this MONSTER croissant

Pastry-induced happiness.

Fitness for Week(end)

Since I was gone for the long weekend and then had a bit of a crazy beginning of the week, I realized I never even posted my fitness schedule for the week!

So, here it is for the rest of the week(end):

Thursday: Walk home and tabata workout

Friday: Bike into work and Run at Lunchtime with ma work ladies

Saturday: Long bike ride around my new area (weather permitting) and possibly a yoga class :)

A nearby park I found on my walk home yesterday!

Sunday: Runday

Have a great day!! Any workout plans for tonight/this weekend??

I prooomise I'll be back later today with pics from NYC. I hope they live up to all of this build-up ;)

Update

Hi friends.

I have been contemplating whether or not I want to share this information on this little blog space, but I have decided to give you an update on my current situation.

I moved to an apartment in Ottawa last night.

Andrew and I have decided to separate ways after three wonderful years together, and while it came as a surprise, I know that it will be for the best.

I do not want to change this blog into some sort of pitty party, but rather continue with my original intent of sharing my efforts to lead an active lifestyle, eat healthy food, and some of my day-to-day adventures. During this upcoming time of transition in my life, I want to focus on reinforcing my healthy eating and exercise habits, surround myself with positive people, and enjoy fun activities as much as possible.

My new best friends

I will miss living in Alcove, and I will miss this guy a heck of a lot.

Krazy Kit

Yet, I am excited for the opportunity to recreate my life and do whatever I want to do, with nothing to hold me back. It’s a bit of an overwhelming and scary concept, but it sounds more and more appealing the more I think about it.

So, there you have it. I will continue to post my weekly workouts and eats, and share fun adventures in between. I will NOT be using this as a personal diary – I have one of those in my side table already ;)

This was difficult to share, but it will explain why I will be having more city-centered adventures over the next little while.

Here’s to new beginnings!

Power Failure

Good Afternoon!

Hope you are all having a wonderful day :)

I had a salad beast for lunch with fresh garden tomatoes. There was a mountain of them waiting for me when I got back from NYC, so I decided to brighten up my salad a bit.

The yellow ones are ridiculously sweet and delicious. Gotta love fresh garden produce!

Power Failure

The weirdest thing happened this morning – the power went out in my office building! I always assumed that such a huge work complex would have a back-up generator, but turns out it doesn’t. Womp womp.

Anyway, it was kind of funny because we all do SO MUCH of our work on the computer, we were all a bit lost when they turned off. Thankfully I wasn’t working on any documents, otherwise I would have been a bit devastated to lose all that I had been working on! Especially since there was no warning that it was going to happen – it wasn’t even raining or windy outside!

So mysterious. If only Sherlock Holmes *ahem* Robert Downey Jr. was on the case...

We all hung around for about an hour and a half when we heard that another complex was starting to evacuate. We were all pretty sure that we were about to be sent home when…all of a sudden the lights came back on!!

Sigh. So much for an even more extended weekend ;)

I will be back either later tonight or tomorrow morning with a catch-up post about NYC with some pics! There is something so satisfying about reviewing all of your pictures from a getaway.

Have a great night! Any exercise plans for tonight?

Back to Work

Morning friends!

Are you feeling like you're in a bit of a post-long-weekend daze? I came back to work to about a billion emails...time to get back to business!

I had an amazingly wonderful time in NYC, with the best hostess anyone could ask for!! I want to go back. Now. But instead I find myself back in Ottawa...gotta make the most of it ;)

He always makes everything better. Such a sassy guy.

Back to Work

Fueled up this morning with a quick breakfast of eggs and mini toasts - the bread was kind of like baguette. Ah well, it was kind of like mini egg sandwiches, which I can deal with ;)

I leave for one weekend, and Kit becomes a shoulder cat. Go figure.

Have a great day! I'll be back later this afternoon with a fitness/eating plan for the week :)

Greyhound Take Two

Guten morning friends!

We are up at the crack of dawn to get ourselves to the Port Authority to take the greyhound bus back to good ol' Ottawa.

And we are praying that it was better than the bus ride here - tThe bus had leather seats, so it was SUPER slippery, and sooooo uncomfortable. Gawd. It was horrible. Also, it was an overnight bus, but we pretty much never slept because we would stop every couple of hours for the border crossing, or making a stop in Albany, or simply because the bus driver thought someone was smoking on the bus and would randomly pull over and yell at us. The worst.

But I'm trying to think happy thoughts and hope that we make home on schedule!!!

Please. Please. Please.

I'll let you know how it goes ;)

Have a great Labor Day Monday!!!

NYC - Day Three

Why hello there!

We got up late...again. We had full intention to wake up at a decent hour, but then dancing happened. Until the lights went on. Oops!

We decided to hit up the MoMA, but first we went to the restaurant 7A for a delicious brunch, and then took the subway to fifth avenue. We didn't quite make it down the street without stopping to check out a few stores - and fell in love with the Japanese retail shop called Uniqlo! Gawk, I want everything in that place!!

When we (finally) made it to the MoMA, we saw the Hooper to O'Keefe show and the Soundings show. Very cool. We made it to the sculpture garden before we got kicked out. Love that place. The art is just beautiful. Definitely stirs up some emotion.

We headed back to our friends place and stopped by Whole Foods to check out the salad bar. I can't wait until it comes to Canada!! I get why people call it "Whole Paycheck" ;)

We then went to a great Italian restaurant called Rosemary's, then wander around Soho some more. Never want to leave!!!

NYC - Day Two

Hello friends!

Hope you are having all sorts of adventures over the long weekend!

We had another fun-packed day yesterday. After getting up, we went to grab coffee at Le Colombe, the best freaking coffee shop I have EVER experience. Holy jeeze. We then walked over to Soho, west village, and everywhere in between...too many areas to remember!

We walked along the high line, which is close to (in?) the meat packing district, which is a gorgeous little park that the mayor of NYC decided to create on the old train tracks there. The coolest architecture.

We then went to the Ishta yoga studio for an amazing yoga class. Felt so good. We then got some dinner at the Westville in TriBeCa. It is known for its awesomely fresh side dishes, which we had to take advantage of.  We got to try a bunch of different ones, they were all so good i couldnt decide on which one is my fav ;)

Our friend was hosting a party on her roof, so we got it all prepped and put up Christmas lights and got our dranks. We met a bunch of her friends, which we so nice and welcoming. It was really cool to hear about all the different areas of the city that they live. This place is crazy expensive, so it's interesting to hear about how they make it work. We all hung out on her apartment and enjoyed the breeze, and then decided to go out dancing again at a place a couple of blocks away in the East Village. We had a blast dancing the night away!

We got up late again today, aiming to hit up a fancy restaurant for dinner tonight while she goes to her friends engagement party in the Upper West Side.

Love this city!!
